The Consulate-General in Noumea is accredited to Wallis and Futuna. The Consulate-General also maintains contacts with members of the Wallis and Futuna community in New Caledonia.

Direct Aid Program

The Direct Aid Program is a small grants program to finance development projects. Under the responsibility of Heads of Australian Missions or Posts (in Noumea, the Australian Consul-General) and financed by the Australian Government, this program is based on the principles of flexible, sustainable and practical development.

Official Visit to Wallis & Futuna – May 2015

In the context of the bilateral relationship between Australia and Wallis and Futuna, Australian Consul General, Heidi Bootle, accompanied by Australian Federal Police Inspector Murray Taylor and Policy Officer, Benjamin Fuluhea met state, customary, religious and political authorities of both islands of the territory, during a visit from 11 to 18 May.

The visit allowed useful discussion of important regional and bilateral issues and permitted the establishment of police to police links useful for regional inter-police cooperation. Discussions centred around key issues in the bilateral relationship, including medical cooperation/evacuations towards Australia, Australian scholarships, and development issues.


1. Presentation to the various heads of administrative departments by Policy Officer Benjamin Fuluhea and by the Inspector of the Australian Federal Police Murray Taylor, on regional cooperation mechanisms and police cooperation.

2. Kava welcome ceremony by the chiefs of Sigave Kingdom at Futuna.


Official visit to Wallis and Futuna - September 2013

Australian Consul General Heidi Bootle, and Policy Officer Benjamin Fuluhea, visited Wallis and Futuna from 31 August to 4 September. They met senior representatives of the French state and territorial government. This was also an opportunity to participate in opening ceremonial events for the 9th Pacific Mini-Games.
