The Australian Consul-General joined the Mayor and Honorary Mayor of Noumea, the Free France Foundation in New Caledonia and the representative of the FANC at the Gare Maritime in unveiling on Tuesday 19 September a plaque commemorating the role of HMAS Adelaide (I) during the ralliement of New Caledonia. NAIDOC Week 2017

The Australian Consulate General was pleased to present the documentary film “Zach’s Ceremony” in the context of NAIDOC Week 2017. The film screened in partnership with the Pouembout Agricultural High School, the Tjibaou Cultural Centre, the Loyalty Islands Province and the Médiathèque de Lohnä in Lifou. Read more.

White Ribbon Day 2016

Each year, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is marked on 25th November. From 21-25 November, the Australian Consulate General invited the public to tie a white ribbon to the gates of the chancery building in support of  ‘White Ribbon Day’ - the campaign for the elimination of violence against women. Fans of fashion and racing gathered at the official residence of Consul General Paul Wilson for the 155th Melbourne Cup. The event, sponsored by the Federation of Horse Racing New Caledonia, showcased Australian fashion. Read more.

Bastille Day 2015

Australia was represented at Noumea’s Bastille Day celebrations by the National Servicemen’s Pipes and Drums Band, who led the parade. The band delighted the crowds with bagpipe standards, including ‘Waltzing Matilda’. Read more.
