Melbourne Cup 2015

Fans of fashion and racing gathered at the official residence of Consul-General Paul Wilson for the 155th Melbourne Cup on 3 November 2015. The event, sponsored by the Federation of Horse Racing New Caledonia, showcased Australian fashion, with garments from the boutique CAST and the brand Tarocash on display. Prince of Penzance, with rider Michelle Payne, was the surprise winner of the race. It was the first time in Melbourne Cup history that a female rider has won the Melbourne Cup.

The President of the Federation of Horse Racing Mr Jean-Pierre Taieb Aifa highlighted the importance of maintaining close relations between the horse industries of Australia and New Caledonia.

 

Guests took part in a “Fashions on the Field” competition, with prizes generously sponsored by CAST and Tarocash. A jury awarded prizes for the best dressed guests of the evening: Ms Coulson (1st prize), Ms Patricia Tran (2nd prize), Honorary Consul of Switzerland, Mr Daniel Hunziker (1st prize) and Mr Vincent Constantinou (2nd prize).

 

Guests enjoyed the photo booth displaying Australian designed clothes.
